In July, 1973, James Lewis, Jr. preached his first sermon in Clyde, Ohio Then, in 1977, after careful study of the Word of God and much prayer, the church left the Pentecostal movement, changed it's name to Harvest Temple, and became an independent, fundamental church. Vision... 1975 - the 1980's saw many exciting additions to the ministry of Harvest Temple, such as a Christian school, Christian radio station, a growing missions program, and a number of other ministries which were added as time went on. Around 1985 it became evident that a new auditorium was needed to accommodate the growing congregation. Plans were drawn for a modern 550-seat auditorium, as well as an educational wing which would house the offices and Sunday School rooms. The Lord continued to bless, and the new building was completed in January of 1987. In August, 2000, the name was again changed to Harvest Baptist Temple, reflecting it's long-held doctrinal position. In 2004, the original building was razed along with the old gym, and in January, 2005 a new family life center was completed which includes a gym, kitchen, cafeteria, nursery, and classrooms. Blessings... Today, Harvest Baptist Temple continues to shine the light of the gospel in the Clyde area through it's many outreach programs. Some of these include Harvest Temple Christian Academy, W.H.V.T. Christian Radio, Harvest Temple Christian Academy, Lighthouse Christian Counseling Center, Harvest Baptist Bible College, missions, buses, youth ministries, musical groups, special days, and much more! Looking Forward... So what does the future hold for Harvest Baptist Temple? A larger building? A retirement village? A Christian radio network? A large Christian College? Only God knows what is in store for H.B.T., but whatever the ministry or endeavor we can be sure that all will be done for His glory, not man's. " The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;" -Matthew 9:37
